There are lot of similarities between the Dutch and The Somalis. Both nations are known for tolerance, trade, literature and art.
But also it is also very important to look how the Netherlands recovered from wars, water issues and famines over the centuries and perhaps we can review the lesson learned and the interventions and showcase this in the Somali context.
It is also very important for us, as Dutch-Somalis to bring the Somali culture and traditions to the Netherlands.
Holland House will organize cinema nights, celebrate the relevant Dutch holidays and organize symposiums to bring the two communities closer to each other. Holland House will also provide weekly Dutch lessons to the young Dutch diaspora and their parents.
There is a high value of exchanging cultures. It provides an opportunity to explore other cultural benefits, traditions, customs, beliefs, societies, languages and much more.
Hence, such opportunities make you view the world with a different lens. This provides alternative perspectives! It broadens one’s horizons and increases the tendency of acceptance.
For us Dutch Diaspora Somalilanders, we know firsthand the benefits and the value of the Dutch culture when it comes to for an example work, mannerisms etc. We will organise events that will bring to light the values and benefits of Dutch culture so people can benefit locally.
Furthermore, Holland House will celebrate the relevant Dutch holidays and organise symposiums to bring the two communities closer to each other.
